VOTEMOS.US is an initiative that questions how the 2008 United States Presidential Election would differ if all residents of the United States could vote. Currently only citizens registered to vote may participate in the election for the next President. However within the borders of the United States reside approximately 39 million non-citizen residents, permanent residents, most legal, some undocumented, but all are active members of the U.S. economy and society. And we feel that the majority of these residents would eagerly vote if given the opportunity.

On October 12th, 2008 VOTEMOS.US entered the physical world in the form of a voting cart. Through the VOTEMOS.US Voting Cart participants may take the voice of either McCain or Obama as they make public a hypothetical vote for the 2008 U.S. Presidential Elections. The cart features hand-crafted wooden busts of McCain and Obama. The Voting Cart presents participants a microphone that is amplified via speakers sprouting from the top of each candidate's bust.

VOTEMOS.US presents an online Spanish language portal to the US presidential elections that allows users to register, vote and give their opinion on the US elections.

The Voting Cart was realized with the help of Marco Deseriis, Jason Jones, Yvonne Olivas, the forming and chiseling of the busts was executed by Charles Rittman. The cart was presented at the three-day event "Vote Early, Vote Often" at The Change You Want To See Gallery. Special thanks to Eyebeam and Not an Alternative for supporting the project. This project has been part of my Artist Residency at Eyebeam Center for Art and Technology.
